The Swedish industrial group KB Components will open a second site in Mexico. The site will be located in Irapuato in the State of Guanajuato, the second largest automotive cluster in Mexico and will serve both Industrial and Automotive customers with injection moulding of plastic components and assembly operations.
– The investment in Irapuato is needed to meet the demand from a growing Mexican customer base, where closeness to our customers is of vital importance. By constructing a second site, we come closer to a range of major OEMs and TIER1 customers. We will introduce the same production philosophy as in our other production units, with a high degree of automation and continuous monitoring to ensure both quality and operational excellence, says Lars Holtskog, Vice President at KB Components.
At the same time the current site in Puebla is undergoing major investments related to recent nominations from VW, Audi and Volvo Cars.
Following the expansion, which is expected to be completed in the beginning of 2022, KB Components will operate from eight facilities located in Gislaved and Örkelljunga in Sweden, Kaunas in Lithuania, Zilina in Slovakia, Wuxi in China, Puebla and Irapuato in Mexico and Windsor in Canada.
